A short animated video. The incredible survival story of Ernest Shackleton and his 27 crew stranded on the Antarctic ice for 2 years after the crushing of their ship, Endurance. This video is based on journals from the expedition written at the time the vessel was abandoned, and takes the form of four diary entries outlining life in the Antarctic and being set adrift on the ice. It is intended for social studies classes and is meant to act as an introduction to or supplement the reading of a book about the heroic adventure.

The full lesson contains;
1. A small sized version of the movie that can be played on an iPad (640:360). The movie is about 6 minutes long.
2. A task sheet (pdf) for the movie containing several types of listening and word quizzes about the events leading up to the destruction of the Endurance. There are also reading and writing expansion exercises.
3. A teacher resource sheet with answers to the task sheet questions and details on how to view view the online video. (There is a link to an online HD version of the movie along with the password necessary to view it)

This is a new product I am developing. A series of short animated movies with attached learning materials providing an introduction to classic literature. The first of these is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The movie is five minutes long and contains the story of the genesis of the book and one key scene from the story. I will follow up with more of these if enough interest is shown.

This is a silent movie of Edgar Allen Poe's, 'The Raven'. It takes the form of an illustrated presentation with animated text and pictures. There is a suitable musical background but no recitation of the poem. It was made using Apple Keynote software before exporting to video. The video is in m4v format and is 8 minutes long.
This resource is suitable for use as an introduction to the poem. It can also be used in the classroom or on students notepads/laptops to learn about the poem, practice recitation, or research various aspects about the poem, including new words, tone, assonance, internal rhyme and historical references.
For those who have access to Apple products I have also included the first two stanzas of the poem in the original Keynote format, which can be used as a teacher's aid.
I am offering this video at a low price for a short period of time, and will add the full Keynote version of the poem later. Earlier, if anyone requests it.

This movie is based on the Letters from Captain Walton section that provides the introduction to the story. It covers a core curriculum need in literature classes to evaluate content presented in diverse media formats including visually and aurally. The main purpose of this product is for students to take on the role of either defender or prosecutor of the main villain from one of the literary classics listed below. Using the resources supplied here they can investigate the book for textual evidence that will support claims that the character has or has not carried out any crimes or villainy and then, either on paper or in the classroom, engage in a mock trial to demonstrate their persuasive argument skills.

There several different sets of materials that can be utilized with the novels I have included. They can be used alone or in combination. These are;
1. A PDF slideshow to introduce the characters from the novels and elicit knowledge of their ‘villainy’.
2. A set of ‘Wanted Posters’ in color and black and white for the characters; The Monster, Mr. Edward Hyde, Count Dracula, Captain Nemo, Professor James Moriarty and Bill Sikes.
3. A set of ‘rap sheets’ in color and black and white containing picture and background information relating to the history and alleged crimes of the same characters.
4. The same ‘rap sheets’ without the background information.
5. Student explanation print outlining the type of information they need to find for the purposes of the lesson.
6. A student note taking print.
7. A student writing print for making either a character analysis or a persuasive essay.
8. Teacher Notes print.
These materials can be used with the actual books, targeted chapters, graded readers, or movies based on the works. As they are PDF files they can also be opened in most note taking apps on teacher and student iPads.

This is a twelve page comic book version of Ernest Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica aboard the Endurance. It is an adaptation of journal entries from the days around the time of the destruction of the Endurance by ice floes. The language has been edited to appeal to learners of ESL/EFL or it can be used as an introduction to the topic for younger readers. The images used for this are taken from an animated video which will be published shortly.

1. There are three versions of the comic. A PDF full color version, a low resolution easy to print version and an ePUB version that can be used in slideshow mode on a computer or tablet.
2. There is a student work print containing two vocabulary tasks on words taken from the comic book. There are two essay prompts for expansion work including writing a fictional dictioanry entry from the Endurance and another for researching the topic of courage and endurance.
3. A short answer sheet for the work print.
4. A teacher print with an explanation of the resource and its use. This also contains links for several websites that contain further background and resources for a more in depth look at the story.
